Kingsley Obiora - Former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria

Kingsley Obiora is an economic policy expert who has worked in global financial governance, economic reform, and central banking at the highest levels of government. With decades of impactful service, he has helped to shape and influence economic development, macroeconomic policy, and digital currency innovation in Africa. Based on years of experience at institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Obiora has earned a reputation as a policy expert with a pedigree in both domestic and international economic dynamics.

From 2020 to 2023, Kingsley Obiora served as the deputy governor, economic policy at the Central Bank of Nigeria. In this capacity, he supervised core monetary and financial departments, chaired the Monetary Policy Committee, and managed a team of over 1,000 staff.

Mr. Obiora also led the development and launch of Africa's first central bank digital currency, the eNaira, marking a significant leap in financial inclusion and innovation across the continent. In addition, his leadership was instrumental in co-managing Nigeria’s COVID-19 economic response and launching InfraCorp, a multi-billion-dollar infrastructure investment vehicle.
